A lot of people dislike the cs:s models (including myself) but there seems to be some light at the end of us 1.6ers tunnel. :P This is a copy and paste and all respect and thanks should go to j0lt I realised that its probably not so much the actual gun model, but the angle its viewed on that gives its feel to the player. The M4 is probably the most notably different from 1.6 - source. I made this quick mock to show what I mean - I obviously did that in image editing software and stretched and rotated the images of the guns, and I realise they are distorted and fat/skinny. Now, it may seem stupid (and probably is) but it would probably be possible (and legal) to change the origins of the view models to make them look a bit more like 1.6 models. This would mean we dont actually change the models (ie Not take very long to do and implement). UPDATE/EDIT: Ive used Garrys Mod to load the source m4 viewmodel into the source engine. For those who dont know, Garrys Mod can be used to spawn source objects and manipulate them (ie Rotate, reposition, combine with other objects and more). I loaded the model in and rotated it to try and recreate the 1.6 view point by walking up to the model so it clips into the screen a little. I got the view 95% accurate to the 1.6 view. Below are 4 screenshots, one showing the original 1.6 screenshot, one from Garrys Mod and one showing both overlapping. The other is the original CS:S M4. Original: (I dare you to put compare side by side with the Garrys Mod shot) AWP SCREENSHOTS (same format: 1.6, improved CS;S, comparative, original CS:S): Original: These screenshots are not photoshopped. They are direct from the game. You will notice that pretty much the only thing different between views is that the source M4 is slightly above the 1.6 M4. This is simply due to Garrys Mod not being the best tool for precise positioning and me not having enough patience ;). Anyhow, I think this proves that the Source M4 can resemble the 1.6 M4 and still look good, without actually editing the model. We can only hope that it is indeed possible to somehow change this and implement it into CSP. Im sure there is a way so that when the models are drawn on the screen, the rotation can be slightly altered therefore not actually modifying any files made by VALVe, therefore 100% legal. Hopefully 100% possible ;). --j0lt you cant deny these have a pretty good resemblance to the 1.6 models
